Well well!!! Hello y’all

I’m way too lazy to maintain 2 journals so I’ve opted to go public Wink

I’ve always counted on my journal to keep track of my dates/years and so my history will now be general instead of specific. I hope I get the years right. Some dates do stick in your head for instance I will never forget the day my doctor told me I was type II diabetic. It was April 20, 2008. I was 46 and weighed 239. It was Easter Monday and I had just stuffed myself with Easter dinner and so much Easter chocolate. I had actually popped into The Bay and bought myself several marked down Lindt Easter bunnies that I couldn’t have afforded full price. The things that stick in your head eh? (Yes, I ate them Blush )

Once I was diagnosed I knew that I had to get serious about my health. I’m very anti medication and I knew that unless I could control my BS with diet that would be the road for me. I asked my doctor to put away her Rx pad and give me 3 months to turn it around. I had been messing around with LC for years over at LCF and with my mother in law but I kept losing and regaining, on the wagon/off the wagon. YKWIM!!

I read a book called Eat Fat/Get Thin ( I think) It was by Barry Groves and I just loved his style, his lifestyle and his plan. I followed this plan for almost a year until I found Charles Washington and ZIOH. I was tired of tracking. I was tired of fighting the cravings. I was tired of lapsing. I was bummed that my weight loss had stalled. I was 211 at this time. I read so much here. I followed along. I was shy. Finally I took the plunge and registered under a funny name ( Pebbles I think). It didn’t take long until I jumped in with both feet to the forum and to the ZC lifestyle. I started ZC on April 20, 2009.

I haven’t been perfect. I’ve lapsed even on ZC. I’m addicted to carbs. I can easily avoid the starches and sugars. I can easily fool myself that nuts are okay, that wine is okay, that berries in season are okay, that coffee is okay. My biggest battle is the coffee with sweetener and heavy cream and the vino on the weekends. I should say that my biggest battle is with my brain.

So here we are. Moving forward.

I’m the saddest about some of the literature that was lost. Pictures from meat-ups. I have pictures on my computer from meat-ups that I plan on posting once I figure out where. I also have my progress pictures somewhere which I will dig out and post too.

Thank you so much Charles and all the admins and staff for getting us up and running. This place means so much to me, somewhere that I can be myself.

At the moment I’m 52 and my weight this mornings was 176. My fasting BS was 5.4.

Thanks for the reminder. I couldn’t remember what Forums were under the “Members” Forum, but Meatups was certainly one of them.

You look nothing like 52! Blush

I hate what was lost, too. Huge threads detailing the lives of folks bucking the trends, and making ZC work, the pics, and so much good info. Confused

Lise, so glad you are keeping a public journal so that we can all follow and learn from your journey. I believe I printed a post of yours from long ago that I will be putting in the “Best Stuff” thread when I have time to type it up. I’m with you, such a loss of a wealth of information.
